How the Skin Ages
There are four processes involved in the aging of the skin. The process of aging of your skin involves cell turnover, the slowing down of collagen production, the skin drying out as estrogen production and thyroid function decrease and the attack of free radicals on your skin. All of these things are involved in the aging process of the skin. Read further…

You’ve probably heard about Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, (the makers of the chemical hormones Premarin and Prempro), petition in the United States to request that the FDA prohibit compounding pharmacies from making bioidentical hormones for their patients. If not, a brief summary is to follow. You should be aware that the big pharmaceuticals – because they cannot profit by patenting bioidentical mixtures – are trying to deny your access to bioidentical hormones.
The history to all this is that the pharmaceutical companies saw a great cash cow in being able to provide pregnant mares’ urine (Premarin) and Prempro (chemical hormones) to treat the menopause symptoms of women. Think of all the female customers they would have because every woman eventually reaches menopause. The dollar signs were flashing in the great pharmaceutical companies’ eyes: Ca-ching! Ca-ching!

If you haven’t been feeling like making love with your honey lately and you’d rather wash your hair, it is probably because your body is low in the hormone testosterone. Testosterone levels in both men and women decline as the years go by, but it is possible to supplement with testosterone to bring back those feelings of lust and desire, so important for human beings of all ages.
Testosterone levels can be checked with either a blood or saliva test. If your levels are normal, then you will have to look deeper into why you are not feeling a little lusty for your partner. It could be overwork, stress or a variety of other relationship issues which will lower the testosterone in your body. Talk to your medical practitioner. But today, we are going to talk about testosterone supplementation in this posting.

I remember in my youthful 20s, always joking to my friends that I would retire from the world of sex at the age of 40. In your 20s, when you are very young, 40 seems old and such a long way off. And then the 40s arrive and the whole world looks very, very different.
It seems, according to an article on the BBC News Health pages that “age is no barrier to sexual activity”. Sex is no longer the domain of youth but rather, those happiest and healthiest are those that are sexually active far into their 70s and 80s. The internal sex drive in both men and women remains strong for a lot longer than most people suspect. A large percentage of people in their fifties to mid-sixties reported having sex in the last year and that sex occurs two to three times per month. Both males and females continue to masturbate whether or not they have a sexual partner.
Sexual problems for older adults include erectile dysfunction for males and problems of lack of sexual desire and the problem of lubrication for women. However, the problem of erectile dysfunction for men is easily solved with Viagra and for low libido and problems of lubrication in women, there is bioidentical hormone supplementation and many easily obtainable over the counter lubricants. Read more about bioidentical hormone supplementation in our article here.

A Horrific Prescription for Menopause
A friend of mine believing she had finally reached menopause because of frequently occurring hot flashes that were driving her nuts, made an appointment at her doctor. The doctor set her up to have a hormone panel done. With the positive results of the tests, her suspicions were confirmed, she had indeed reached menopause.
Before we go any further in this article, let me tell you a little about my friend. She is a very joyful woman, is very happily married, has two wonderful kids and a great attitude towards life. Enough about my friend.
Let me tell you her horror story.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement
Bioidentical hormones are defined as biologically identical to what the human body manufactures. Their molecular structure is exactly the same as the molecular structure of hormones made by the body. They are derived from plant sources: soy, wild yam and other plant extracts and processed in a lab to replicate the hormones in the body.
Bioidentical hormones have been used in Europe for over 50 years. They are not chemical synthetic drugs like Premarin which is made from a pregnant mare’s urine and then prescribed in a one dose fits all regimen. Premarin will leave you with symptoms of bloatedness, low libido, brittle bones and depression, not to mention the serious consequences of heart attack, stroke and breast cancer. The big and powerful pharmaceutical companies have no interest in bioidentical hormones because they are not able to patent them and churn out big profits. Instead, the big pharmaceutical companies have pushed their synthetic hormones onto women, chemicals which are dangerous to women’s health (Women’s Health Initiative, 2002). Read more…
