Anti-Aging Foot Care

Published by under Foot Care

Anti-Aging Foot CareYour feet need extra anti-aging pampering to remain in good shape as you age. Your poor feet have carried the weight of your body millions of miles on your life path and they deserve some pampering. Luckily, there are many products including organic products on the market to help you take care of your feet.

First stop is making a regular habit of getting a pedicure. An excellent pedicure is available at Civello Salons in Toronto. We found their pedicures to be extra special and they use all natural products by Aveda. If you don’t live in the Toronto area, try to find a salon which uses natural products and follow stringent rules for cleanliness. You can also look for a salon that uses nail polishes which don’t contain any of the following ingredients (which are linked to skin irritations in people and birth defects in animals):

• Dibutyl phthalate (DBP)
• Formaldehyde
• Toluene

Using a foot cream such as Burt’s Bees’ Coconut Oil Foot Crème to massage into your feet before bed time will keep your feet nice and soft. Burt’s Bees’ Coconut Oil Foot Crème is an excellent choice, softens tough skin and is 98.6% natural making it a wise organic choice.

We also recommend Bio-Sana’s waterproof callus remover/foot buffer to keep in the shower to use a few times a week to keep the soles of your feet extra smooth and soft. It is the best callus and rough skin remover we’ve found on the market.

Your feet work the hardest, carrying our total body weight and walking miles and miles all day. As we age, your feet need extra anti-aging care and pampering to keep them in top shape.

Coconut Oil Foot Creme

Burt’s Bees, Coconut Oil Foot Creme

This is absolutely the best foot care creme I have found on the market. It also smells scrumptious due to the lovely smell of coconuts. Slather some on your feet at night, put on some cotton socks and wake up with softer feet in the morning.

As with all Burt’s Bees products, the ingredients are 98.6% natural. Coconut Oil, rosemary glycerin and peppermint are the main ingredients.

The product retails for about $15.00 in Canada. Check out other Burt’s Bees products at their website at Burtsbees.com.

Service Review: Civello Salon Spa

A Signature Pedicure At Civello Salon Spa.

Getting yourself ready for summer means preparing your feet for open toed sandals and flip flops. I decided to have my first pedicure of the season at Civello’s at 887 Yonge Street, just north of Bloor.

Stepping into Civello’s is like escaping from the city into a serene and peaceful world for a brief moment. There are two floors, the downstairs is where the hair salon is located. Upstairs is like another world. Pebbled floors massage your feet, new age music fills your ears, arched wooden doors to the small rooms where you receive massages, and deep dark wood on the walls surround you. It is a quiet and serene place.

The equipment and footbath are extremely clean. The attendant to my feet wore rubber gloves while she did my feet. From the first soaking, the removing the rough calluses with an amazing tool (I ended up purchasing at the end of my visit), the trimming of the nails and cuticles, the exfoliation, the delightful foot massage, I knew my feet were in good hands. A pedicure at Civello’s is thorough. Civello uses natural products by Aveda. The experience of Civello’s Signature pedicure was so relaxing that in the 45 minute experience, I almost fell asleep. After the trimming, exfoliation and massage, a nail polish of my choice was applied. I chose pink. My feet looked and felt wonderful, ready for the toe baring shoes of summer.

Civello Salon Spa can be found at three other locations in Toronto: 269 Queen Street W. , 145 Lakeshore Rd. E., and 2620 Yonge Street.
