Thanks for the great resource. May I only add a few natural treatments I saw on the internet: natural progesterone cream, soy, vitamin E and herbs like black cohosh, dong quai and promensil seem to ease the menopause symptoms.
Sarah, there’s an article today on CNN that says that research shows that soy does not help osteoporosis or cure hot flashes. It’s still hormones and bio-identical hormones are best. Also, you need to get a prescription from a doctor for natural progesterone cream. It would be great if natural supplements helped menopause symptoms, but most women don’t find that effective. I quote:
“Middle-aged women searching for a safe alternative to hormone therapy to prevent bone loss and ease the symptoms of menopause are in for another letdown.
The latest in a series of disappointing studies finds that soy supplements, an increasingly popular substitute for hormone therapy, do not stave off hot flashes, night sweats, and other uncomfortable menopausal symptoms…” link: http://www.cnn.com/2011/HEALTH/08/08/soy.bone.loss.flashes/index.html?hpt=he_c2
