What are Biomimetic Hormones?

You may have come across the terms “Biomimetic Hormones” or “using bioidentical hormones biomimetically” in your reading on the subjects of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) , menopause, perimenopause, andropause, etc., and wondered what exactly this means.  Is the word “biomimetic” related to the word bioidentical?  Most definitely these words are related.  The following will explain more clearly the term “biomimetic hormones” and “biomimetic hormone replacement therapy”.

So what are biomimetic hormones?

Biomimetic hormones are natural bioidentical hormones used as hormone replacement therapy in a manner or “protocol” created by T.S. Wiley of Wiley Systems, Inc.  This protocol is known as “The Wiley Protocol”.

The Wiley Protocol is a natural bioidentical hormone therapy which restores declining hormone levels in a manner which more closely imitates the natural rise and fall of hormones in the body of a woman during the month.  Biomimetic hormone replacement uses the bioidentical hormones progesterone and estradiol and differs from the static dosing of bioidentical hormones in that the dosing more naturally replicates the 28 day cycle of the rise and fall of hormones.  Women using this “protocol” report an increased feeling of wellbeing, an end to hot flashes, greater quality of sleep, feel more energetic, happier and less moody.

Doctors who prescribe the Wiley Protocol and compounding pharmacists who fill prescriptions for women and men have all been certified and are qualified to provide the Wiley Protocol to their patients. The difficulty in obtaining the Wiley Protocol could be finding a doctor in Canada who is qualified in this system.  Currently, it is difficult for many, many women in Canada to even find a doctor who will prescribe bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.  There are some provinces in the country which do not even have a doctor to prescribe natural bioidentical hormones in the static dosing method. Hopefully, this scenario will change soon. Millions of baby boomer women are now in peri-menopause or menopause and need to find solutions to the symptoms they are suffering.  Some women are forced to travel to the United States to get the help they need and obtain natural bioidentical hormones.

Who is T.S. Wiley?

T.S. Wiley, the creator of the Wiley Protocol is the author of two books, “Sex, Lies & Menopause” and “Lights Out:  Sleep, Sugar and survival.”  She is also a researcher and lecturer on hormones and menopause and a medical theorist in environmental endocrinology and Darwinian medicine. She devised the Wiley Protocol which mimics the rise and fall of hormones using bioidentical hormones made from plant extracts after 12 years of research.

Cinnamon, a Natural Anti-Aging Supplement

Cinnamon - Natural Anti Aging Supplement

Cinnamon - Natural Anti Aging Supplement

One of the simplest natural anti-aging supplements I’ve heard of recently is one of the cheapest and you’ve probably already got some sitting in your kitchen cupboard right now.  You may be very surprised to hear about this, but cinnamon is very good for you and your health for many reasons.

Research has found that cinnamon has numerous health benefits in that it can decrease cholesterol, triglycerides and glucose levels.  It is also being investigated as a treatment for diabetes – one of the deadliest diseases that attack many people both young and old these days.  Cinnamon has been found to improve the metabolism of sugar in the fat cells by 20 per cent in a U.S. study.  It normalizes sugar levels in the blood and we all need that kind of help.

There are two types of cinnamon, verum and aromaticum or cassia.  Verum is the real cinnamon.  Aromaticum can actually not be good for you if you consume it in large quantities.  How much cinnamon should you consume in a day?  You should only have  about one gram per day for you to experience its benefits.  Throw some cinnamon in your coffee, bake some in some bread or an apple or fruit crumble and it will help you immensely in normalizing your blood sugar, cholesterol and triglycerides.  For these reasons, we call it a natural anti-aging supplement.

Cinnamon can also be bought as an supplement in your local health store, but if you can get it in its original form as a spice at a cheaper price, why wouldn’t you use this natural anti aging supplement?  It comes with immense health benefits.

Anti-aging Weightloss Tea

Published by under Anti-aging,Teas

Here’s a great recipe for a healthy natural anti-aging tea you can make yourself.  A friend gave me this recipe and it has helped her lose weight.  If you take a look at the ingredients, something that I did, you will see why this tea is so good for you.  It helps promote your health and in this way, it is an anti-aging tea.  A component of this tea is green tea and this has been used for losing weight in many weightloss aids.  My friend lost 15 pounds in one month drinking this tea and another friend who’s been drinking it has lost 8 pounds.  Both women ate healthy diets while drinking this tea.  The recipe and the ingredients with their health benefits follows.

First the anti-aging weightloss tea recipe.

You need: cumin seeds, ginger, mint and green tea. Boil them all in equal amounts (one green tea bag), leave for 10 minutes to steep.  Drink one cup, three times a day before each of your meals for one month. It will clean up the whole body of all fat and waste specifically around the stomach area. Watch out for some additional visits to the washroom; but it doesn’t cause any type of diarrhea, like other detox or “cleansing” teas.

Green Tea:

Green tea is rich in powerful anti-oxidants called catechin polyphenols, specifically epigallocatechin gallate.  EGCG inhibits the growth of cancer cells without causing damage to healthy tissue. It has also been effective in lowering LDL cholesterol levels and preventing the formation of blood clots which can be responsible for such diseases as thrombosis,  the leading cause of stroke and heart attacks.

Studies have shown that Japanese men who drink lots of green tea have the lowest rate of heart disease even though 75% of them are smokers.  EGCG is twice as strong as resveratrol which could explain these stats.

Green tea stimulates the metabolism which means that you burn more calories and this assists with weight loss.  Just check out your pharmacy or health store and observe how many weight loss formulations contain green tea.

An added bonus to drinking green tea is that it helps prevent tooth decay because of its ability to kill the bacteria which causes a buildup of dental plaque.  Read our previous article on the anti-aging health benefits of green tea.

Ginger:

Ginger, another great ingredient in this healthy anti-aging tea can help prevent migraines, and give relief to arthritic pain.  Research done in Denmark reports that ginger will block the effect of prostaglandins – substances which cause the inflammation of the blood vessels in the brain.  Other research in the U.S. has shown that ginger has the same effect on blood clots that aspirin has.  Additionally, ginger can help reduce cholesterol levels.

Mint:

Mint has been used widely in foods and herbal medicines in the Middle East, India and Europe for hundreds of years.  Health benefits of mint include settling upset stomachs, reducing the discomfort felt by those with irritable bowel syndrome, and slowing the growth of bad bacteria and fungi in the intestines.  It has been used for the treatment of asthma and allergies.  Furthermore, it appears to have many benefits as an antioxidant because of a component called perillyl alcohol which in studies has been shown to prevent colon, skin and lung cancer.  Recent research has also shown that mint has been shown to stop facial hair growth on women.  Read the article on the research on mint tea here.

Cumin Seeds:

Anti-aging benefits are also to be found in cumin seeds   It can be used as a stimulant, an antiseptic and for digestive disorders. Because of its antiseptic properties, it can help deal with the symptoms of the common cold. Cumin seeds are high in iron and it is believed that they cause the secretion of enzymes from the pancreas which assists in nutrient absorption into the body. Cumin seeds also help the liver to detoxify the body.

Research has also shown that cumin seeds have anti-carcinogenic properties and in laboratory animals have reduced the risk of stomach and liver tumours.  Cumin seeds have been used throughout history to treat atonic dyspepsia, flatulence, indigestion, nausea, morning sickness, diarrhea when mixed with boiling water salt and coriander.

So, add this anti-aging healthy tea to your daily intake.  Even better, use organic ingredients when you make this tea.  Rather than have a cup of coffee in the morning, try drinking this tea because of its health benefits.  It may also help you lose weight around the belly and, it is delicious.
