When it is time that you decide to investigate cosmetic surgery or wrinkle fillers to improve your looks and feel better about yourself. There are many options for you to take. First do the research and talk to people who have had these cosmetic procedures done before. Then book a consultation with an anti-aging specialist who will make the best suggestion for you.

Botox:

Botox was originally approved by the Canadian government for the treatment of ophthalmic disorder and hyperactive muscles and childhood cerebral palsy in 1997. There are minimum side effects to Botox, which are temporary, reversible and minimal. Botox for cosmetic purposes to reduce frown lines was approved for use in April, 2001.

Botox relaxes the muscles that cause wrinkles giving the face a more relaxed and youthful appearance. There is no downtime to the procedure; it can even be done over a lunch hour.

Botox is a purified protein which is injected into the area that requires it. It can be used for frown lines and wrinkles around the eyes. It is injected into the muscle and causes the muscle to relax, smoothing out the wrinkle which forms on top of the muscle. You will still have feeling in the area of the injection because it does not affect the sensory nerves. It is very advisable to have only an experienced doctor inject the Botox cosmetic because they will be able to evaluate the right dose and the correct injection site.

Concerning safety, Botox has been used in Canada in ophthalmology for over 10 years and for cosmetic surgery for at least 6 years. Furthermore, you may experience a slight bruising in the area after injections, but this is temporary. Pregnant and nursing mothers should not use Botox.

Botox injections can last anywhere from three to four months. After that, you will need to get more injections to retain the effect. However after using Botox several times in one area, the effect of Botox may start to last longer.
Please contact your cosmetic surgeon or anti-aging doctor to find out if Botox is right for you.
