Anti-Aging – 20 Good Habits
Health Habits are good to get hooked on – here are 20 new habits for you to assist you in fighting the hands of time:
1. Get out the kleenex – have a good cry now and then. Having a good cry will reduce stress levels, boost the immune system reduce stress hormones and help you think more clearly. Rent a dvd, watch a sad beautiful movie and have a good weeping session.
2. Kick the caffeine habit. Make sure that you don’t drink more than one cup of java per day. If you’re using caffeine as a drug to wake you up, stop! One cup of caffeine a day can help boost clearer thinking for us as we age, but if you’re drinking more – it’s time to cut back.
3. Kick the smoking habit if you haven’t already. It reduces your hormone levels, ages you, causes cancer, etc., etc., etc., I don’t have to remind you.
4. Sleep – get your 7 or 8 hours of quality zzzz’s a night.
5. Squat – regular squatting, builds strength in your leg muscles.
6. Sunscreen – wear it. Too much sun ages the skin.
7. Turn down the volume – prolonged exposure to high volumes can permanently damage your hearing.
8. Breathe deeply. For five minutes a day. Deep breathing relaxes you, reduces stress and actually massages your internal organs.
9. Volunteer – it’ll give you a feeling of satisfaction and contribute to the health of your community.
10. Floss and brush your teeth daily. It helps keep plaque and dental disease away.
11. Buckle up! It’ll help keep you safe in your car, and perhaps save your life one day.
12. Eat your greens! Start eating salads regularly for lunch and dinner. You’ll get your vitamins, curb your appetite and contributes to weight reduction.
13. Move! Move your body for 30 minutes a day. It will build muscle tone, burn calories and fat, need I say more?
14. Throw out old pillows after about every two years. Pillows are favorite habitats of millions of dust mites. Ugh!
15. Make love! Sex is a calorie burner, ego booster, and stress reducer – increasing the levels of feel-good hormones – the endorphins in your body. It also reduces headache and migraine pain. Oh, and it feels good.
16. Talk to a nutritionist – are you getting the nutrients you require at whatever age you are? Supplement with the nutritional supplements you need on a daily basis.
17. Breast self exam. Get to know your breasts and examine them regularly.
18. Wash your hands! Germs are everywhere – regular washing will help reduce infections. Then slather on some lotion to keep your skin moist.
19. Stretch! Incorporate stretching into your daily routine. Stretching improves flexibility, helps prevent injuries and feels good!
20. Tighten your muscles! Every time you stop at a traffic light squeeze and release your abs, your butt muscles. Every bit counts!
