Cosmetic Procedures – Artecoll
Artecoll is a long lasting cosmetic filler made by Canderm Pharma Inc. It has been used since the 1930s in eye lenses, dental work and bone repair. It is a biocompatible substance consisting of microscopic PMMA beads and collagen with some lidocaine to soften the pain of the injection.
It works by stimulating natural collagen, binding with the collagen adding volume and structure to your skin, a process which takes about two to three months to be absorbed. Sometimes you will need two or three applications to get the desired results. Artecoll is used to treat acne scars, frowns, laugh lines and thin lips.
The effects of Artecoll can last ten or more years. A sensitivity test is optional. One in a thousand people is sensitive or allergic to Artecoll. The procedure must be administered by your doctor, a doctor experienced in anti-aging injections. Side effects can occur including redness, swelling, bumps, bruising and itchiness. These side effects, which can be treated with cold compresses and acetaminophen, diminish in a few days. There is no downtime following this procedure.
